#DiorMen’s Summer 2021 collection is pre-launching at selected boutiques worldwide, and that can only mean one thing. You will finally be able to get your hands on Ghanaian artist Amoako Boafo’s vibrant designs, his works remaining a key feature throughout the summer collection. Multi-coloured Hawaiian shirts? Check. Luscious cashmere jacquard sweaters? Check. The perfect juxtaposition of sportswear (multi-striped bands) and tailoring? Check. But if you’re one of those looking for a brand new bag to add to your collection, then you will be pleased to find that this collection also comprises a stunning selection dreamt up by the brand’s current Creative Director, Kim Jones.
One of them is the Dior Lock Handbag, which also happens to take the spotlight in today’s post. The rigid bag measures 21.5 cm by 16.5 cm, coming in a compact silhouette that might remind you of a miniature briefcase. From the single top handle to the removable (and adjustable) shoulder strap, this handy bag is pretty versatile to boot, allowing you to carry it by hand or have it slung over the shoulder however you please. Not forgetting the oversized clasp right in front (otherwise known as the Dior Lock) rendered in brushed ruthenium-finish brass, a cool new element that complements the masculine design to perfection.
Aside from the blue #DiorOblique jacquard canvas panel in front, the entire bag is made from black smooth calfskin in and out. You will also find 4 metallic ‘feet’ at the base so your bag will never touch the floor, keeping the smooth leather in a pristine condition at all times. Now, it’s not often that you find a Dior handbag that comes with a reinforced structure and a sturdy brass handle, which also explains the price tag of some SGD6200. Don’t rush down right now as Singapore will only be launching the collection at a later date, but you can always add your name to the wait list first to avoid disappointment.
