Following 2019’s highly successful collaboration with Nike, sacai has gone all out with an all-new hybrid design this year, one that was featured prominently at the brand’s Paris runway show back in January 2020. Both the Vaporfly and 1983 Pegasus are seamlessly combined into one sneaker, demonstrating Chitose Abe’s technical expertise and masterful approach to layering. 2020’s version is aptly called the VaporWaffle, and you can look forward to a breathable mesh upper sitting atop an eye-catching midsole. Not only are the midsoles stacked (just like the 2019 LDWaffle), they are also divided at the back and extended slightly at the heel, creating a unique (and strangely, beautiful) combination that’s a real treat for the visual senses.

Maybe it’s the fusion design that has wowed the fans once again, or the duality in the shoe tongue, laces and Nike’s very own Swoosh that makes this a clear frontrunner as far as designer sneaker collaborations in 2020 are concerned. In other words, you wouldn’t want to miss out on the Nike x sacai VaporWaffle, as it will be launching globally on 6 November 2020, starting at 1000 hours over at Nike Singapore’s online store.

Priced at SGD259 a pair, you will find it in either Black/White or Royal Fuchsia, and both pairs will come fitted with the black Waffle outsole that’s a classic Nike x sacai favourite, for sure. One more thing. Get the Royal Fuchsia if you want something different and unique, as the colour combo was directly inspired by Joan Benoit Samuelson’s groundbreaking marathon win back in 1984.
