A little known fact about Goyard? The Goyardine canvas that made the French trunk maker what it is today also comes in shiny metallic finishes like gold and silver, and you would have spotted them over on jewellery boxes and precious trinkets from time to time at the standalone boutique in Takashimaya Shopping Centre. Sure, displaying them as fancy cases at home does seem like a good idea, but for those that want to carry it out a shiny Goyard for the everyday, then you will be pleased to find that Goyard has gone all out with a limited run of 5 different Goyardine bags in limited-edition silver.
There’s the Alto (SGD10,990), a structured design modelled after vintage hat boxes, except this time it comes in a miniature size that’s great as a crossbody or simple top handle handbag. The Minaudière Trunk (SGD8830) was previously offered in both metallic hues in extremely limited quantities, but it’s now back in Silver Goyardine. Next up would be the Monte Carlo (shown above, SGD4740), a handy crossbody/clutch hybrid that features a contrasting colour bar in place of the usual classic beechwood, a great combination that’s bold and striking all at once.
The Saigon Mini Soft (SGD6230) and Saigon Mini Structured (SGD9690) round up the quintet, and this selection more or less gives you a great idea of what bags are considered classic styles available at Goyard today. Do note that the exclusive metallic Goyardine canvas (both gold and silver) are not classified as ‘special colours’, but are in fact part of a third tier that makes it even rarer (and thus, more expensive). Available only on a first-come, first-served basis and not up for reservation, head down right now or call the boutique at 6235-0685 for more information.
