Dior: Meet The New St Honoré Bag

Another day, another pleasant surprise. Just when you thought the French luxury house was already done as far as its bag offerings were concerned, this newbie comes along. Joining the 30 Montaigne, #DiorBobby, Dior Book Tote, Lady Dior and the #DiorSaddle is this, something that’s known simply as the St Honoré Bag.

A charming new design dreamt up by Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri and named after Dior’s flagship store located on Rue Saint-Honoré, the Dior St Honoré may look deceptively simple on the outside, finished with the emblematic CD signature that doubles up as the bag’s swivel clasp closure right in front.

Think of it as the perfect marriage between the 30 Montaigne and Lady Dior, with the Dior St Honoré carrying elements that are subtly taken from the two. The trapezoid shape is a classic Dior silhouette, and the double top handles make it a handy option if you aren’t a fan of carrying the bag by way of the accompanying shoulder strap.

Now, the real beauty about the bag lies in its compartmentalised interior, which is something you don’t see very often in Dior handbags. The Dior St Honoré comes with a zipped pocket running across the middle, separating the bag into two roomy compartments for all your daily essentials. There are also three interior patch pockets for other bits and bobs, and even a back pocket for your quick access needs, making this a real keeper for those on the hunt for a solid day-to-day work bag.

The bag will be offered in two sizes, the Medium (25 cm by 19 cm) and the Large (30 cm by 22.5 cm), with prices starting from SGD6300 for the ones in grained calfskin leather and going up to SGD51,000 for the exotic alligator leather ones that will come in limited quantities. Aside from the fact that the Dior St Honoré was built as a functional daily workhorse, you can’t deny the thoughtful design that goes into the bag. In other words, if you are looking for a grown-up alternative that’s perfect for work, this sleek number, from its interior-sewn handles to the reverse flap style, might be your answer.
