You can always count on Balenciaga to churn out head-turning (and some say, funky) designs under the creative direction of Demna, especially with its recent Fall-Winter 2020 collection that’s finally making its way across the boutiques in Singapore. Back in March, the avant-garde designer filled the front rows with water before dimming all the lights to create a dark, post-apocalyptic atmosphere. The mood was severe at the start, all thanks to the long maxi dresses, oversized black coats, and trousers that dominated the first thirty looks.

Gradually, the French luxury brand introduced colour and prints, with several statement-making handbags taking centrestage in the impressive 105 look collection. One of the key runway pieces would have to be the bag shaped like a lunch box, fully constructed out of recycled plastic and modelled after a vintage-looking tin box. It’s right up Balenciaga’s alley for sure, engraved with the brand’s interlocking BB and BALENCIAGA logo in front, as well as over on the top clasp.

The bag was mainly carried as a clutch on the runway, but Balenciaga has also added an extra lambskin strap for the commercial version known as the Lunch Box Small (SGD1650). You will find it in two colours (Black and White), both available for sale at Balenciaga’s online store now, or over at the boutiques located at Marina Bay Sands and Paragon Shopping Centre.
