Prada Fall-Winter 2020 Identity & Kristen

If you have been following Prada for quite some time now, you will realise that the Italian luxury brand hardly names its handbags (and bags in general), often opting for simple terminology such as ‘hobo’ and ‘shoulder’ for a good majority of its designs. So when they do, could it be a case that it might become a house classic through seasons and trends? Examples include the Galleria, which has earned its status as an icon of the house, and then there is this pair of leather bags from their Fall-Winter 2020 collection.

Firstly, there’s the Kristen, which makes for a lovely alternative to the Galleria. Yes, it comes with a similar silhouette and structure (right down to the handles and logo placement), but there’s something particularly refreshing about this design that’s worthy of a second look. Definitively smaller (22 cm by 16.5 cm), it comes in a compact shape that makes it a great size for the everyday. Then there are the colours, which include Black, Cameo Beige and Petal Pink, all of which look good on the Saffiano leather body.

The second highlight would be the Identity, one that comes in a streamlined crossbody design for days when you prefer something casual. Measuring 20 cm by 15 cm, this bag opens via the magnetic flap closure to a roomy Nappa leather-lined compartment for all your daily essentials. While it’s deceptively simple from a design point of view, Prada has added several elements such as the metallic hardware at the sides to give it an elevated look-and-feel, along with a highly versatile shoulder strap which can be adjusted to 5 different lengths.

Both the Kristen (SGD2950) and Identity (SGD3200) can be found at Prada boutiques in Singapore, and both will come in enough colours to make the rainbow jealous. And let’s be frank, classic full leather bags around these prices are getting scarcer by the day, so if you are looking for something that will last and yet not break the bank, a trip down to either ION Orchard, Marina Bay Sands or Paragon should be part of your plans this week.
