There are endless reasons why collaborations between luxury houses and sportswear brands have proven to be the perfect success formula time and again. The designer(s) behind major luxury houses possess the ability to create an eye-catching (and thoughtful) design, and in Prada’s case, they have all the necessary resources to elevate a done-to-death silhouette and create a premium alternative that resonates well with the fans of both brands. Case in point? Adidas’ iconic Superstar sneaker which is taken to all-new heights, created from start to finish in Prada’s exclusive factory located in Montegranaro, Italy.
It’s well deserving of that made-in-Italy tag (which you will never see on your regular SGD140 Superstar sneaker), comprising of hand-guided steps starting from the cutting of the leather to the glueing and polishing, before it’s finally packaged neatly into the individual boxes. As such, every sneaker is meticulously crafted to the highest standards, and you will only be able to find it at Prada boutiques (it is, after all, created entirely by the Italian luxury brand) in limited quantities.
Following last year’s release that saw the sneaker being sold together with the Bowling Bag, Prada has taken a different approach for its second drop, releasing 3 different colours of the popular sneaker that are all sold individually. There’s one in full Black, another in shiny Chrome Silver, with the third pair in White finished with additional black detailing on the heel and stripes. All 3 designs come with the co-branded Prada x Adidas logo on the sneaker’s tongue, with the Prada Made in Italy tag stamped proudly on the exterior of both sides.
Priced at SGD700 each, the Prada x Adidas ‘Prada Superstar’ will be launching in Singapore on 8 September 2020, with sizes running up to 44.5 so the men can get in on the action as well.
