Saint Laurent’s beloved Sunset is making a glorious return for Fall-Winter 2020, coming in a refreshed update with slight adjustments in terms of its silhouette and size, aptly coined the Sunset Satchel, so you won’t confuse it with the original version that’s simply known as the Sunset. The most obvious difference would have to be the top handle sitting right above, a lovely element that gives it additional oomph, with the plus point being the fact that you can now carry it like a mini briefcase/handbag.
The second ‘improvement’ would be the all-new leather-and-chain strap, which can now be adjusted to seven different lengths depending on how you like to wear your bags, long across the body or short over the shoulder. The strap is also removable, so you can carry the Sunset Satchel via the top handle without having to worry about the fuss of the long leather-and-chain strap. The third point would have to be the size, with the New Medium coming in a reworked size that’s comparable to the original, measuring 25 cm by 18 cm with two roomy compartments that will fit all you need for a good day out with the girls.
If you’re looking for familiar elements, the metallic YSL initials still feature prominently in the middle of the front flap, and each bag comes with the same leather-encased keyring tab that doubles up as a chic hanging charm. You will find that Black and Ivory are both sold out, while Opium Red is still up for pre-orders, with a shipment date slated for mid-August. Nevertheless, you can find both colours available in limited quantities at the boutiques (ION Orchard and Marina Bay Sands), so visit ASAP before they fly off the shelves as well.
The Sunset Satchel (SGD3390) comes in at a pretty great price, considering it’s a 100% calfskin leather bag from a luxury house who maintains their leather goods are all made in Italy till this very day. On the hunt for something new and refreshing to end the day on a good note? Well, the Sunset Satchel is it.
