Surprise surprise! Louis Vuitton has updated another vintage favourite with fresh new embellishments and tweaks, re-introducing it as part of the Fall-Winter 2020 line of handbags under the creative direction of Nicolas Ghesquière. Known as the Odéon, this stylish shoulder bag is specially tailored to fit the needs of the contemporary woman, coming in a roomy silhouette that opens easily via the two zipper pulls at the top. It will come in 2 sizes, PM and MM, with a thick shoulder strap that’s adjustable to seven different lengths, so you can wear it over the shoulder or sling it across the body to keep it close to you at all times.

There are several differences between the F/W2020 version and the vintage Odéon, so you might want to take a closer look even if you have a pre-loved version sitting in your bag closet right now. The all-new Odéon features reinforced leather corners at the base (instead of the top), making it extra resilient to daily wear and tear.

There’s also an LV charm (a nod to the French luxury brand’s trunk-making heritage) sitting right in the middle, coming in either natural or vegetable-tanned leather, depending on your bag colour choice. Now, the best feature about the bag would have to be the detachable shoulder strap, one that’s easily removable so you can switch it up with a jacquard canvas strap if you prefer, or use the bag on its own like an oversized clutch.

Props must be given to Louis Vuitton for its ability to create versatile pieces that can be worn in numerous ways, and the F/W2020 Odéon is the latest design that manages to tick all the right boxes. The PM (SGD2430) size measures 28 cm by 25 cm, while the MM (SGD2610) is slightly wider and taller at 31 cm by 27 cm, so you should do a rough gauge based on your daily needs before choosing between the two.

As for the colours, there’s Black and Natural for the PM size, while the MM only comes in Black for now. You can have the option of getting it delivered right to your doorstep via Louis Vuitton’s online store, or visit one of the three boutiques to find out more about this modern update. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. But if you can make it better, why not, right?
