Blue dials are highly coveted on sports models for the simple fact that it looks good with pretty much any case material (full gold, steel or even platinum) you can think of. A distinct and masculine colour, it is also now found on Panerai’s bestselling timepieces, the Luminor Blu Mare, which translates to ’blue sea’. A nod to the marine heritage of the luxury Italian watch manufacturer, here are 5 facts about this new timepiece summarised just for you.

01 – The Luminor Blu Mare (PAM01085) comes in a single size, featuring a 44 mm case made from the high-performance corrosion-resistant AISI 316L steel. The bezel comes in polished steel, while the Safety Lock crown protection and pressure-fit case back are both made in brushed steel.

02 – Interestingly, this is the first timepiece in the collection to come in a blue sun-brushed dial, complemented beautifully with Arabic numerals and indices in Panerai’s signature green Super-LumiNova. Even the hour, minute and small second hands will remain luminous in the dark, allowing for instant legibility even in low light conditions.

03 – The 44 mm timepiece contains a manually wound movement designed in-house by the Panerai Manufacture in Neuchâtel, with the Calibre P.6000 equipped with an Incabloc anti-shock device and 3 days power reserve (72 hours) that’s pretty impressive to boot. Other features include a water-resistance to 100 metres, so you can even take a quick dip with it.

04 – Each watch is sold together with a blue calfskin strap with contrasting beige stitching, as well as a second rubber strap for days when you decide to go extra casual. Changing them is pretty easy, as Panerai will provide a special screwdriver for you to change the straps and buckle all in the comfort of your home.

05 – Now, on to the golden question, the price. The Luminor Blu Mare (PAM01085) is priced at SGD8000 inclusive of taxes and will be available at Panerai boutiques in the weeks to come. In other words, if you want to snag yourself a coveted piece, best you head down or give them a call stat.
