Givenchy: Meet The New Antigona Soft

Can you believe that Givenchy’s celebrated Antigona handbag officially turns 10 this year? Weathering the ultimate test of time, as well as the seasonal interpretations in croc-embossed leather or tri-coloured combinations over the years, the iconic Antigona has remained relatively the same.

Until now.

Gone are the sharp, distinctive corners that give it’s sharp good looks, and in comes a new supple and relaxed silhouette known as the Antigona Soft. The new interpretation blurs the lines between femininity and masculinity, coming in 3 functional sizes that are now available across all Givenchy boutiques in Singapore.

Credit must be given to the design team because the bag manages to stay lightweight despite coming in a full leather exterior, which is always a good thing especially if you plan on packing in extra items for the day. All bags come with Givenchy’s logo triangular patch in front, as well as two leather side bands equipped with a twist clasp that can be left unbuttoned for a casual appeal or secured down if you prefer your bags having a bit of structure. Regardless of size, the Antigona Soft unzips to a roomy main compartment, along with a flat pocket and extra card slots to keep you well-organised.

Some of you might recall that the strap on your classic Antigona was only long enough to sling over the shoulder, but the Small Antigona Soft is built to be worn casually across the body. Measuring 30 cm by 25 cm, this versatile handbag makes for a great alternative to its structured elder sister, with a slightly lower price point that starts at SGD2650. The next two sizes are significantly bigger, with the Medium Antigona Soft coming in at 45 cm by 35 cm and the Large Antigona Soft measuring 55 cm by 45 cm.

Both the Medium (SGD3150) and Large (SGD3650) make for the perfect bags for the weekends, especially if you’re planning on heading for your long-awaited staycation now that it’s finally allowed. Do note that only the full leather versions in selected colours like Black, Eggplant, Military Green and Pearl Grey are now available in Singapore, while the versions in canvas and wool are slated for a launch later this year. Nevertheless, you can head down to the boutiques in Marina Bay Sands and Paragon Shopping Centre, because nothing beats the experience of feeling up the bag and seeing if this latest interpretation of the icon makes you go soft in the heart too.
