Bottega Veneta Kraft Paper Mini Pouch

Daniel Lee has brought back one of fashion’s most unique materials (think the likes of Comme des Garçons’ market tote and Jil Sander’s unforgettable paper lunch bag) and integrated it into its bestselling Pouch Bag that’s now available as part of the Pre-Fall 2020 collection at Bottega Veneta. Each bag features the kraft paper exterior that’s 100% recycled and certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship council), which is in line with the Italian luxury brand’s continued efforts with working with materials that are big on sustainability.

It’s rather interesting how a material like kraft paper can replicate the intricate folds of the Pouch Bag, with another plus point being the crumpled finish that gives it instant character. If you’re worried about carrying it daily and risk getting caught in the rain, don’t be. Each bag comes protected with a polyurethane film coating, so you can stay assured that the kraft paper will remain waterproof at all times.

As for the shape, the Pouch Bag (be it Mini Pouch or the original) is fully lined in calf leather, ensuring that it will maintain its beautiful dumpling-like structure over time. It also retains that touch of luxury, with the surprise contained within. And if you’re torn between both sizes, your best bet would be the Mini Pouch, especially if you find that you don’t carry much these days. Measuring 22 cm by 13 cm, it even comes with a slim leather shoulder strap (an element that isn’t available on the bigger size), making it the perfect size for the weekends, or when you’re out running errands for the home.

Even better news? The Mini Pouch in kraft paper (SGD1630) is now available at Bottega Veneta boutiques (ION Orchard, Marina Bay Sands and Takashimaya Department Store) in Singapore, as well as over at its online store that ships directly from Italy. Want an icon that’s also quirky all at once? This would be it.
