Louis Vuitton Cannes

Given Louis Vuitton’s extensive heritage of leather goods and trunk-making expertise, it comes as no surprise that the luxury brand revived some of its classic designs recently. Take the Cannes, for example, an Epi leather vanity case dating back to the 1990s that was devoid of any monograms (save for a tiny LV logo) on the exterior. The chic (and most definitely fun) bag even made an appearance on the set of Gossip Girls, carried by Leighton Meester’s famous character Blair Waldorf.

Today, the Cannes has been brought back to life by the brand’s creative director, Nicolas Ghesquière, transforming it into a dreamy handbag that measures 15 cm wide and 17 cm high. The Cannes’ canister-like silhouette remains the same, unzipping to reveal a roomy microfibre interior that will house plenty of daily essentials. That said, the modern-day interpretation comes with several new changes that you wouldn’t want to miss out on.

First up, the Toron top handle is now wide enough for you to slide your hand through, and you can opt to hold the Cannes like a handbag due to the sturdy nature of the structured leather. Two ring loops were also added at the sides so that you can wear the bag across the body, with the strap removable so you can even go ahead and add your own to dress it up however you please. Lastly, each bag is sold together with the gold-tone LV padlock, so you can always keep the bag safely shut whenever you’re travelling from point to point.

Lastly, it now comes in an exciting mix of Monogram Canvas and Monogram Reverse Canvas, complemented beautifully with black leather found on the trims, handle and strap. The Cannes (SGD3550) can be found over on Louis Vuitton’s online store, with selected colours in Epi (SGD3850) available for your perusal as well. And you can always count on it being a classic piece for decades more to come.
