The Soft Trunk was launched during LV’s Spring-Summer 2019 runway presentation, a core component of Virgil Abloh’s debut collection as Creative Director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear line. Together with bags like the Pochette Volga and the Steamer PM (to name a few), all the key pieces in the collection came in Monogram Canvas finished with a bold orange chain (Abloh’s ‘3% golden rule’) found at the front or side of the bag. Since then, Louis Vuitton has introduced multiple variations of the Soft Trunk in the span of just one year. There are versions in full Taurillon leather or the colour-blocked Epi that features a mix of blue, green, red and yellow, as well as the Monogram Seethrough mesh unveiled back in Fall-Winter 2019.

Most recently, the French luxury house created the mini version that’s shorter and narrower, but retains the same silhouette as its bigger predecessors. Measuring 18.5 cm by 13 cm, the Mini Soft Trunk can be carried like a clutch, or you can attach the chain-and-leather strap and sling it across the body for a cool crossbody look. The roomy interior will fit a good day’s worth of essentials, with an additional outer zipped pocket. For those who love and appreciate Louis Vuitton’s trunk-making history, the Mini Soft Trunk is a clever way of taking a piece of heritage with you for the everyday, coming in a soft (but boxy) shape furnished with riveted corners inspired by the ones found on the brand’s hard-sided trunks.

Aside from the one in Monogram Eclipse (SGD4400), the Mini Soft Trunk is also available in Taiga leather or monogram-embossed Taurillon leather and priced at SGD5600 and SGD6100 respectively.
