Back in January 2020, Rimowa unveiled two new colours for its Essential and Essential Lite range, both of which were hues inspired by the colours of Iceland’s lofty fjords. While the Classic and Original suitcase is made of Rimowa’s high-end anodised aluminium alloy, the Essential is widely credited as the world’s first polycarbonate luggage, the pride and joy of the German luxury manufacturer till this very day. It’s designed to be durable yet lightweight, coming in a streamlined silhouette built with flexibility and portability in mind.
Then there’s the Essential Lite (what was originally branded as Salsa Air when it first launched back in 2011), technically known as the lighter and fuss-free version of the Essential, weighing 30% less because it comes with plastic handles instead of aluminium. The Essential Lite is furnished with a simplified divider that will keep everything zipped shut and even extends to a size created especially for Junior, so the entire family can travel with matching luggage.
The two new colours are Berry Purple and Glacier Blue, with the former channelling colours of the deep purple flowers that grow around the fjord of Hvalfjörður and the latter bringing to mind the icy blue hues of Iceland. Both colours can be found on the Essential Cabin, Essential Check-In L and Essential Trunk Plus, while Glacier Blue can also be found on the Essential Lite Cabin, Essential Lite Check-In L and Essential Lite Kid with prices starting from SGD940.
And while no one is travelling anytime soon, it doesn’t mean one can’t plan for the future, especially with Rimowa Singapore offering complimentary delivery (within 3 to 5 business days) for all purchases till 15 June 2020. Just send an email to [email protected] to enquire directly with the team.
