Louis Vuitton’s Monogram Canvas Sac Plat stole the hearts of many when it was launched years ago, coming in a structured vertical tote silhouette that was roomy enough for documents and several other daily essentials. It came without a shoulder sling or top zip closure, and was simply made for you to store everything within hands reach. While you wouldn’t be able to find the Monogram Canvas Sac Plat in boutiques or online today (has it really been discontinued?), you will find a ‘revamped’ version instead that’s known as the Sac Plat Horizontal Zippe which has recently been introduced for the boys.

Officially part of a new segment titled New Formals, it joins several other designs like the Armand Briefcase, Cabas Business and Soft Trunk Briefcase, all of which are modern day interpretations of the traditional briefcase. There’s currently one size available, measuring 39 cm wide and 31 cm high, which makes it slightly wider (but shorter) than its vintage counterpart. Fans of Louis Vuitton’s canvas will be pleased to know that this version is constructed from Monogram Eclipse, furnished with black leather handles and trims to complete that formal work look.

The best part about the Sac Plat Horizontal Zippe? It now comes with a top zip closure that will keep your contents safely secured within. The bag is also equipped with extra pockets and a flat zipped compartment on the interior, scoring extra points in terms of function and utility. Each bag also comes with its very own leather tag, giving you an added option if you’re one to love a little personalisation on your bags.
