Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas Bowling Vanity

If you’re old enough, you would know that this bag wasn’t originally known as the Bowling Vanity, but the Deauville from Louis Vuitton, a bag that used to come in 2 sizes, and which has been around for eons. And because no one will ever know why they decided to change the name (Hello Chanel?), the bag is thankfully still around and looks the same as the day it was launched.

Sporting a mainly Monogram Canvas body trimmed all over with vachetta leather (handles, as well as the front leather tab and all-around trim), this would be the bag that ladies of yore carried (actually, it would be the bag the ladies’ help carried), when it would contain all the essentials one would need on her vanity table and then some whenever she went on a long trip by air, land or sea. Why? Look again and you’ll see the addition of the brass lock and luggage tag, which is what most travel bags those days would have had on them.

The good news? It is now available online at Louis Vuitton for the rather decent price of SGD2390, considering how much more Louis Vuitton’s other bags (smaller even) cost these days. The only downside? It doesn’t come with a leather sling, which means you can only carry it one way, or just buy a sling yourself and have it clipped on the brass rings under the handle. Better yet, just get your boyfriend/husband/partner to carry it for you, just like in the old days. Intrigued? Hit this link and shop away, before it gets discontinued, or worse still, sold out.
