Dior S/S20 ‘Pockets’ Book Tote

Just when you thought Maria Grazia Chiuri was done making variations (in terms of size and print options) to the iconic Book Tote, she introduced an all-new design that’s very much in line with the botanical theme of Dior’s Spring-Summer 2020 collection.

A quick search of ‘garden tool tote’ will lead you to images of bags that come with extra pockets on the exterior, which will fit just about everything you need for gardening. And they all look somewhat like this Book Tote, with the addition of the extra pockets on the front, back and sides of the 41.5 cm by 35 cm bag. It also makes perfect sense, considering Catherine Dior (Monsieur Christian Dior’s sister) was the main inspiration behind the collection, known for being a famed botanist and gardener at the Les Halles market in Paris after the war.

On the runway, Dior styled the bag with mini rakes, shovels and a pair of gloves slotted within the pockets, but no one’s stopping you from using the tote as a luxurious diaper bag or even as a luggage carry-on considering it’s guaranteed to fit loads within.

There’s currently no word yet on the official name (though you might want to call it the ‘Pockets’ Book Tote for now), but you will be able to indicate your interest at the boutiques and even do a pre-order for a piece ahead of its official launch. How much? Well, this one in #DiorOblique is priced at SGD5100, which is just slightly more than the original version you’re all too familiar with. Do a screenshot of the post, show your CA and let him/her know you want one stat.
