Walk into any Louis Vuitton boutique today (or head to their online store) and you’ll be able to find a bag that will suit your needs. Looking for a casual everyday piece that comes in numerous sizes for you to consider? The evergreen Speedy would be it. Or how about an elegant Twist that will take you effortlessly from day to night, furnished with an LV buckle right in front that sets the tone from the get-go? No matter the occasion, Louis Vuitton has got you covered, and the brand’s latest take on the open tote has proven to be a popular option amongst the ladies who love a bag that’s about the grab-and-go.
It first appeared in an exclusive Hamptons Blue that sold out the moment it was made available for sale, and subsequently introduced in multi-coloured Monogram Giant as well as the Monogram Jungle which were all part of seasonal drops in 2019. Today, it seems like Louis Vuitton is going back to its classic hues with the Onthego, one that comes in an interesting mix of Monogram Canvas and Monogram Reverse found all over the exterior, handles and shoulder straps.
The beauty of the Onthego lies in its ease of use. Aside from the fact that it comes without any top zip closures (everything you need can be easily reached within), each bag comes with 2 Toron handles for you to carry by hand or wear at the elbow, depending on your preference and style. There are also 2 long leather shoulder straps (a drop length of 24 cm) tucked within that can be lifted up as and when, transforming the Onthego into a shoulder bag that’s great for days when you wish to go hands-free. A number of you might be worried that your wallet and other essential cards might get lost within the bag, but Louis Vuitton has added a zipped compartment and double pocket slots on the interior for you to keep them safely secured.
The Onthego was only available in a GM size (41 cm by 34 cm) when it first launched, but a smaller MM size (34 cm by 26 cm) was recently introduced this year. Stocks remain as unavailable online, but you will be able to find the Onthego MM (SGD3250) at LV ION Orchard and Takashimaya Shopping Centre, so it’s best you head on down ASAP before it gets sold out. The Onthego GM is priced a tad higher at SGD3450, which isn’t that much more if you are looking for a roomier tote.
