Louis Vuitton Monogram Legacy Cabas Bag & Phone Box

You’ve seen the must-have ‘party bracelets’ created by Nicolas Ghesquière for Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2020 collection, now it’s time to read all about Virgil Abloh’s offerings for the men, specifically two new bags that are part of the Monogram Legacy range.

Monogram Legacy is not exactly a new material per se, but rather a term given to the revived heritage Monogram Canvas furnished with reddish-brown trimming, reminiscent of the canvas material found in Vuitton bags and leather goods of seasons past. In addition, the cowhide leather trimming seems to come with a slight patina, which gives it an aged look.

Back to the bags proper, lovers of crossbody silhouettes can look forward to the Monogram Legacy Phone Box (there’s also another cutie that’s shaped after a milk carton, but that’s a story for another day), measuring 17 cm by 10.5 cm, which will comfortably fit an iPhone XS Max. With a depth of approximately 5 cm, it will be able to fit a tad bit more than just a phone, such as a cardholder, lip balm or even a pack of mints.

The Monogram Legacy Cabas Bag, on the other hand, is a roomy tote that’s rather sizeable at 40.5 cm by 32 cm, which is great for storing your laptop or doubling up as a carryon on for your weekend getaways. It’s also furnished with a zipped pocket on the interior, along with a duo flat pocket that will keep you neat and well organised.

Both bags come with an aged-gold interlocking chainlink detailing, which pretty much sums up Virgil’s 3% approach to design. Priced at SGD2180 and SGD3780 respectively for the Phone Box and the Cabas Bag (prices provided by LV are estimations for now), they won’t be available till November 2019, but don’t let that stop you from heading down now and putting yourself on the wait list. Or paying in full for it first to make sure you don’t miss out. Like the #BB2130.
