Chanel has been consistently creating limited-edition pieces for its seasonal collections, bags (or clutches) they affectionately term as a minaudière, also the collectible accessory and one of the key highlights of the entire seasonal collection. Some well-loved faves over the years include the Matryoshka Doll Clutch and the oversized N°5 Perfume Bottle, and most recently this beach ball that made its debut at the Spring-Summer 2019 show.

For Fall-Winter 2019, it was the gondola lift that got transformed into the minaudière, one that officially stole the show at the Grand Palais earlier this year. It was the perfect embodiment of #CHANELintheSnow, shaped after gondola lifts (otherwise known as ‘cable cars’ in layman terms) one would typically find in the Alps. The gorgeous piece measures 19.2 cm by 15.3 cm, coming in full resin and decorated with strass all over. Other subtle (you will only notice it from a certain angle) detailing include the graffiti-like prints on the frosted windows, decorated with the word COCO and a heart on one side, and the double CC logo on the other.
Furnished with an elongated sling, you can choose to wear it off the shoulder, or hold it within the palm of your hands, though it’s highly recommended you go with the first option due to the fragile nature of resin. Chanel has made this minaudière available in 3 colours, Black, Turquoise and White, with limited quantities at the boutiques in Marina Bay Sands and Takashimaya Shopping Centre when the collection officially launches later this month.
Not for the faint-hearted, they are usually priced at collector prices, and this one is no different. Coming in at SGD31,530 apiece, do consider that it’s also a limited-edition piece and the one of the highlights from Karl Lagerfeld’s final collection for the French luxury house.
