Aside from September being widely known as fashion month, the other much anticipated event happened yesterday at the Steve Jobs Theater in California. Yes, Apple’s Keynote event which saw the debut of its new #iPhonePro11, their most powerful and advanced smartphone ever. Pre-orders commence on 13 September 2019 at 8 pm, but if you haven’t decided just yet, here’s a quick run-through on the key points to perhaps sway you a little more.
First up, the triple-camera system that’s big on function, touting impressive features like the upgraded Night Mode feature (in other words, beautiful photos in low light), along with the capability of recording the highest quality 4K videos ever on a smartphone. Why? Because the iPhone 11 Pro is equipped with a combination of a Telephone Camera (52 mm focal length with 2x optical zoom), an Ultra Wide Camera (13 mm focal length with 120-degree field of view) as well as a Wide Camera (26 mm focal length and optical image stabilisation). The team at Apple has also tweaked the interface, leveraging the wider field of view so you’re always immersed in the scene, along with powerful editing tools for you to get creative with.
Other smart functions include an updated Portrait mode, giving you an all-new High-Key Light Mono effect to create your favourite studio-style monochrome shots, along with a Smart HDR function that uses preset algorithms to automatically fine-tune the subject and the background. Lovers of selfies will be pleased to know there’s now Slofie, Apple’s slow-motion selfie video function that allows you to shoot videos from your front-facing camera at 120 fps or 4k at 60 fps.
Next, the Pro display is absolutely remarkable for a smartphone, thanks to the Super Retina XDR display that remains bright and sharp while viewing in sunlight, along with a wider colour gamut for breathtaking colour accuracy. The phone is also armed with a robust A13 Bionic Chip for real-time processing, which comes with an Apple-designed 8-core Neural Engine that runs 20 percent faster (while using 15 percent less power), making it the fastest CPU ever in a smartphone. This also allows the iPhone 11 Pro to have a longer battery life; that’s up to 20 hours of video playback on the iPhone 11 Pro Max, which is 5 hours longer than the iPhone XS Max.
Last, but not least, the options that you will get to choose when you’re about to hit the checkout button. It comes in either iPhone 11 Pro (5.8-inch display) or iPhone 11 Pro Max (6.5-inch display), with both models available in 4 different finishes comprising Gold, Midnight Green (a gorgeous new shade), Silver and Space Grey, offered in 64GB, 256GB or 512GB models. Prices start from SGD1649 for the iPhone 11 Pro 64GB, with the range officially available from 20 September 2019, but hit this link to pre-order from this Friday. Midnight Green. Drool.
