Gucci has introduced a brand new design to its ever-growing leather goods lineup, one that’s known as the 1955 Horsebit Bag which takes references from an archival design introduced over six decades ago. For hardcore fans of the brand, you might even find the shape rather familiar, reminiscent of a discontinued favourite (the Lady Web that was part of Gucci’s Spring-Summer 2015 runway show), which is good news if you have been holding out for a similar style.
The 1955 Horsebit Bag can pretty much be described as the perfect harmony of several iconic codes of the house, starting with the gold-toned horsebit hardware that takes references from the equestrian world, identified by the double ring and bar design that’s officially part of Gucci’s DNA. Not to mention the signature beige/ebony GG Supreme monogram canvas that predominantly forms the exterior of the bag, complemented beautifully with brown leather trim all around for that extra touch of luxe.
The interior of the bag comes with 3 gusseted compartments that will definitely fit all you need on a good day out. Need extra security? There’s even a zipped pocket tucked within to do just that. The bag’s shoulder strap is also armed with several snap buttons to give you varied drop lengths ranging from 25 cm to 45 cm, which means that you can carry it short under the arm like a chic handbag, or sling it long across the body or over the shoulder.
Coming in a single size which measures 25 cm by 18 cm, the 1955 Horsebit Bag (USD2300) has launched as an online exclusive that’s available only available via Gucci’s e-store for now, which means that you will not find the bag in the boutiques (well, not yet, anyway). And while Singapore does not offer online shopping yet, you can try getting your friends who are based overseas in countries like Australia, Europe, or even the US to place an order on your behalf.
