The Nina was named after activist and artist Nina Simone, and had its humble beginnings in 2016 when it was released in limited quantities (just 20 pieces) that were given to friends and women Gabriela Hearst admired, one of which includes Oscar Award-winning actress, Brie Larson. Soon enough, demand grew for the eclectic handbag, which can only be ordered via email requests at Gabriela Hearst’s e-store, hitting a peak of a 100-name-strong waitlist back in 2017.

Today, the brand has expanded to include a wide array of bag designs like the Cline & Patsy, as well as the Jane & Ella, but the one original in her entire line-up would be the Nina, now available in more than 15 different colours/materials to choose from. A cool variation includes the Denim Nina, which is crafted with a denim exterior and finished with a smooth nappa leather interior that comes in a complementary shade of blue.

Measuring 23 cm wide and 15 cm high, the Nina opens to a roomy interior with a depth of 18 cm that will hold all your daily essentials neatly within, finished with two slots at the sides that are perfect for your credit cards and such. Gabriela Hearst’s bags can only be ordered via their Submit Your Request form, where a representative will get back to you via email on the stock availability after you have filled in the form online to indicate your interest.
