Chanel’s black-on-black combination (or ‘So Black’ as it’s affectionately termed amongst Chanel aficionados) is literally a gift that keeps on giving, previously appearing in seasonal drops found on iconic bags like the 2.55, the 11.12 and the Boy Chanel, which (unsurprisingly) flew off the shelves the moment they arrived in boutiques. So, what’s the deal about this combo and why is it so popular?
For one, it differs from a typical black leather Chanel handbag rendered in gold, ruthenium or silver hardware. Everything from the double CC logo to the chain strap, down to the zip pulls and rings, all come with polished black metal hardware, which gives the bag its highly coveted black-on-black look.
And for their Fall-Winter 2019 Pre-Collection, the Gabrielle Hobo has been rendered black-on-black that’s now available in 2 sizes. Don’t be fooled by the Small (SGD6550) even though it measures just 20 cm by 15 cm, because the roomy base (8 cm) is guaranteed to hold a day’s worth of essentials. But if you do need more space, that’s where the Standard (SGD7230) size comes in, measuring 28 cm by 21 cm that’s also perfect for the men as well.
The good news? Both sizes have arrived in Chanel boutiques in Singapore, so it’s best you head down ASAP. Because this one won’t be sitting on the shelves for long…
