Saint Laurent Monogram All Over Medium Satchel

Saint Laurent’s interlocking YSL vertical monogram was designed by Adolphe Mouron Cassandre back in 1961 whilst Monsieur Yves was still at the helm of his namesake label, and very much considered as one of the most revered logos of the fashion house to this very day. It’s one that certainly transcends seasons and trends (and even through the numerous changes of Creative Directors), decorating some of the house’s signature bags like the Kate, Sunset and Vicky as a single hardware logo that sits on the front flaps.

Today, the spotlight falls on the Monogram All Over Medium Satchel, one that’s a step in a different direction from the current bags in the house’s leather goods line-up. You can liken it to the start of Anthony Vaccarello’s foray into monogram-patterned bags for Saint Laurent, something which the the Parisian luxury brand hasn’t done since Hedi Slimane’s rendition that was introduced briefly in 2014.

Measuring 24 cm by 14 cm, the bag comes decorated with the monogram arranged and stacked within a diamond-like pattern, in a lightweight cotton canvas material that makes for a great everyday piece. Lift the rounded flap up by pushing down on the ‘button’ and you will find a fully leather-lined interior that’s armed with an extra zippered pouch and slot pocket for keeping all your everyday essentials neatly within. The 37 cm is considered a tad short, but you will definitely be able to sling it on the shoulder, or carry it on its own like a chic clutch.

Available in a single size and colour, the Monogram All Over Medium Satchel is priced at SGD2500, and is available now at Saint Laurent boutiques (ION Orchard or Marina Bay Sands) and YSL.com. In other words, it is time to head down to the boutique to have a look before it gets sold out, try it on, twirl in front of the mirror and snap a quick selfie while you’re at it. And if the bag fits, you know what to do.
