Moynat Canvas 1920 Oh Tote

When Moynat unveiled the Oh Tote featuring the Bad Dreams illustration by French-Japanese artist Tiffany Bouelle late last year, they were really well-received. It’s a popular piece that eagle-eyed fans of the brand have been waiting for. A casual bag that’s not only big on looks but also truly functional, thanks to a roomy open silhouette which makes it really easy to use as an everyday piece.

For those of you who previously missed out (or want something that comes without the illustration), here’s a piece of good news. The Oh Tote makes a return in an entirely new Canvas 1920 line, one that’s all about the Initial print created back in 1905 by Henri Rapin who formed the signature motif by alternating lines in the letter ‘M’ as a preventive measure against imitators and fakes. The totes come in the exact same linen-cotton canvas inside and out, with a metallic bronze pigment on the exterior that gives it a beautiful sheen under the light.

While the 2019 version of the Oh Tote does not come with the illustration; it instead features the 3 stripes and Moynat logo running down the middle, one that’s been hand-screened individually onto each bag. Size-wise, there’s the standard MM (36 cm by 27 cm) and GM (43 cm by 32 cm) as seen in the Carbone (Black) and Madder (Red) above, along with a third Indigo (Blue). They are also priced lower than the limited-edition Bad Dreams version, coming in at SGD1910 for the MM and SGD2070 for the GM, perfect for those looking to save a little more.

The Canvas 1920 line extends to bags like the Quattro Ruban Tote, the taller, vertical version of the Oh Tote, as well as the 48H Weekender Bag that’s perfect for a quick getaway. And yes, the entire line is now available in Singapore, at either one of Moynat’s boutiques at Marina Bay Sands or Takashimaya Shopping Centre.
