Prada Knit Sneakers

For those of you still dreaming about owning a pair of the Adidas Originals Pharrell Williams X Chanel NMD that was released back in 2017, you can pretty much forget about sourcing for one, considering it was limited to just 500 pairs worldwide. Unless of course you’re willing to shell out USD5900 and up (record price was USD25,000 for US11) for a resale pair on StockX, which is ridiculously high for a shoe that’s technically Adidas.

There is, however, an all-new knit sneaker from Prada (part of its Spring-Summer 2019 lineup), one that bears similarities. A white oversized logo on a black knit body, but not quite. Prada’s version comes with double intarsia logos on both sides, set on a flexible stretch-knit upper that makes for easy slipping on. Finished with black and white Prada laces and a lightweight white rubber sole, it’s also worth noting that the entire sneaker is fully made in Italy.

Now, on to sizes and availability. Note that the pair falls under the women’s category, and Singapore will be bringing in sizes up to IT40 with a retail price of SGD1290. Which means that some of you guys who want in on a pair would have to head on down and give them a try, or see if local boutiques can try and order in bigger sizes specially for you (note that there could be an extended waiting period for this).

If, however, you’re pretty set on getting a pair and want in now, you can head over to NET-A-PORTER which has them stocked up to IT41 and priced at USD940 (SGD1272 after conversion), which is pretty much comparable to local prices. Do note that NET-A-PORTER is also carrying the white version which comes with red intarsia logos, that’s actually perfect for the upcoming Lunar New Year/Valentine’s Day.
