Cartier Guirlande de Cartier

Think of Cartier and jewellery pieces like the LoveJuste un Clou and Trinity immediately come to mind. The one common link amongst the three? Rings and bracelets from these collections (and others as well) are housed within the iconic jewellery case everyone has come to know and love, the octagonal-shaped box adorned with the golden wreath outline. And this year those unmistakable features have been translated into an all-new bag, the Guirlande de Cartier, the latest piece to join Cartier’s leather goods lineup.

Featuring 8 distinct sides cut from soft and supple calf leather, the Guirlande de Cartier is stamped with a gold frieze outline around the bag and the front flap looks very much like a jewellery box when viewed top down. And while you may find a velvet lining in your precious Cartier jewellery case, this one comes in black calfskin leather, giving it a good hold and structured shape that will allow the bag to stand upright on its own. And if you’re all for finding little ‘hidden elements’, three cities close to the heart of Cartier (Paris, London and New York) are stamped on the front of a mirror that’s slipped into a secret slot within the bag.

There are 3 sizes to keep an eye out for: Mini (SGD2770), Small (SGD3850) and Medium (SGD4250). Don’t be fooled by the sizes though, because the Mini itself can fit an iPhoneXSMax, which gives you a pretty good gauge of how much you can fit within the smallest of the lot. All 3 sizes come with an adjustable and removable leather strap that gives you an alternative way of carrying it, though no one’s stopping you from carrying it via the top handle like a chic handbag.

The Guirlande de Cartier will be available in 3 different colours (Black, Green and Red), which also happens to be colours of jewellery cases used through the years in Cartier. Having already had its pre-launch in Paris, London and New York, Singapore is set to launch it in January 2019 at Cartier ION Orchard before the rest of the world in March 2019. This could be the perfect piece for those of you looking for a classic bag that will transcend seasons and time. Better yet, if you’re looking for a new bag to carry for the upcoming Lunar New Year festivities, there’s no better choice than the one in Red.
