2018 was certainly a year of changes in the fashion industry, one that saw Creative Directors like Phoebe Philo (at Céline) and Tomas Maier (at Bottega Veneta) leaving their positions after 10 and 17 years at the helm respectively. While industry veteran Hedi Slimane took over the reigns at Céline (now Celine), a relatively low-key designer was chosen by Kering to head Bottega Veneta.

At just 32 years young, Daniel Lee has worked for some of the biggest names in the industry, including Balenciaga, Donna Karan, Maison Margiela, and most recently, the last 5 years as the Director of Ready-To-Wear at Céline. His debut presentation (Pre-Fall 2019) was telling of the direction to come, a showcase of beautifully tailored RTW pieces for both men and women, along with bags that feature a supersized version of the woven leather intrecciato pattern.

And while his Pre-Fall 2019 collection will only land in stores some time in June/July, you will be able to find 2 new bag designs (created by Daniel Lee) that’s part of Bottega Veneta’s Spring-Summer 2019 lineup which is hitting the stores real soon. One of them includes The Pouch, a unisex piece that is also the highlight of today’s post.

Coming in an oversized clutch-like silhouette, The Pouch features soft folds of leather on the exterior that gives it a voluminous look, while housing a structured frame within. Available in leather options such as the velvet calf Intrecciato leather (SGD4190), the familiar interwoven design at the house that’s reinterpreted into an all-new silhouette, as well as another in butter calf leather (SGD3450), a version that’s essentially smooth lush leather which comes in a myriad of colours that includes Beige, Black and Olive, just to name a few. Now, if you’re all for something truly exotic, look no further than the ones in supple croc (SGD29,820) that comes in beautiful shades like Cream or Pink.

The Pouch also extends to a smaller size known as The Pouch 20 (with a smaller width of 20 cm) that starts at SGD1760 for the butter calfskin ones to SGD2090 for the pieces in woven leather, both of which are quite frankly pretty well-priced for an all-leather bag from the Italian luxury house.
