Eliurpi Circle Maxi Woven-Straw Bag

Jacquemus’ oversized La Bomba hat was, without a doubt, the one that brought statement-making woven straw hats back into fashion. It also paved the way for lesser known brands like Eliurpi, a small label that has neither the budget to hold a large scale fashion show or the marketing capital to get their name out there into the spotlight when people started searching for such hats online.

What’s interesting about Eliurpi was that it was actually founded way back in 2010 by Elisabet Urpí and Nacho Umpiérrez, with the duo best known for their signature woven hats that are handcrafted in an artisanal workshop in Barcelona using antique hat blocks.

Over the years, the label has expanded to include RTW pieces as well as bags, such as this Circle Maxi Woven-Straw Bag that’s made of natural, sustainably-sourced straw. Essentially what their signature woven hat would look like if it were completely flattened, each piece measures 55.8 cm in diameter and is armed with a pair of wooden handles that allows you to wear the bag over the shoulder.

Sure, it’s big and oversized in terms of proportions, but the bag isn’t exactly one that can hold much, being relatively thin in nature. If, however, you’re all for a bold statement-making piece that will work well into the next few seasons, you can consider the Circle Maxi Woven-Straw Bag (SGD460) which is available on MATCHESFASHION in either Beige or Black.
