Gucci x Globe-Trotter GG Suitcase

When pictures of these Gucci x Globe-Trotter GG Suitcases surfaced several months back, no one was sure if they were ever going to make it into production, since officially only the beauty cases from looks 3 and 32 were actually showcased on Gucci’s Fall-Winter 2018 runway show.

More research happened, which led to the discovery that the collaboration between Gucci and Globe-Trotter indeed extended to three other versions: a carry-on suitcase, another in medium and a final in large that comes in either the regular GG Supreme Canvas or the Black GG Supreme Canvas.

Gucci’s Alessandro Michele has been known to travel the world with his trusty Globe-Trotter, and it only seemed apt that he roped in the British heritage brand to create special Gucci luggage using Globe-Trotter’s expertise and original manufacturing techniques, with each piece handcrafted in Hertfordshire, England.

Aside from the predominantly canvas body, there are ample leather details all around, found on the double handles at the top and side of the luggage, as well as over on the retractable telescopic top handle. Finished with double belt closures strapped across the front and back, a complementary leather ID tag, and solid palladium-toned buckles, the collaboration suitcases all perfectly embody craftsmanship and luxury.

On to the sizes starting with the Carry-On (USD2980), which has a capacity of 26.5L and measures 53 cm by 40 cm. The Medium (USD3890), on the other hand, comes in a tad bigger at 62 cm by 45 cm, while the biggest of the lot, Large (USD4300) has a capacity of 73.6L and measures 72 cm by 51 cm. While these luggages are currently unavailable in Singapore, you can try to pick one up if you’re travelling to the US or EU region, or get a friend who’s based overseas to order one for you and send it over. Just note that the latter won’t come cheap especially with courier charges, but hey, considering you will be one of the rare few in Singapore with one, why not, right?
