I’m not sure how many of you out there remember Anya Hindmarch’s hit cotton canvas tote bags that come out many, many, many years ago, the ones that sparked off mass hysteria where no one could get enough of her ‘I’m Not A Plastic Bag‘ totes that even spawned its own fakes almost immediately, which was a true barometer of the tote’s then success.

Fast-forward to today, we all know that Anya Hindmarch no longer releases such bags, instead focusing on fun leather pieces for young and the young-at-heart. And then there’s the current Chubby collection, comprising pieces made of soft quilted nappa leather that are squishy and squashy. Fun and irreverent, you’ll find everything from bouncy soft barrel bags to the Chubby Wink totes that are guaranteed to bring a smile to most anyone’s face. But if there’s one thing that reminds me of those IMAPB bags, it is this, the limited edition Chubby Cloud Tote.

Created to commemorate Anya Hindmarch’s Chubby Cloud installation at Banqueting House, London, the GBP15 (or around SGD27 after conversion) is a soft striped cotton tote that comes with top handles and a slightly longer sling, great for lugging your laptops and work files around. And while it may never be as successful as the IMAPB bags, it’s a great reminder of how something fun and functional need not be super expensive either.
