Opulent fabrics and the GG motif embellishing bags in a contemporary way have got us all – Bagaholicboy’s readers too – coveting Alessandro Michele’s Gucci Pre-Fall 2018 collection. We asked them what their favourite pieces were from the line-up, so read on to discover their picks.

First up, the Dionysus GG Velvet Small Shoulder Bag (POA) that comes in an updated size (28 cm by 18 cm) and fully decorated in GG Velvet. @warusd likes the updated iteration of the Dionysus bag, saying, ‘The bold hues on the velvet bodies make for an interesting colour choice, standing out well against the chain handles and hardware.’ Adds @peaberry, ‘The Dionysus is a new classic and it’s a bag that easily goes from day to night. This one features details that are subtle but still outstanding all at once.’

Next up, the Ophidia GG Medium Top Handle Bag that comes in 3 different silhouettes. The barrel-like Boston bag over on the extreme left (SGD2450) measures 32 cm wide and 16.5 cm high, and makes for a cute handbag that can be slung across the body for a chic look. The other two are slightly roomier pieces coming in at 33 cm by 24 cm for the one in the middle, with the extreme right bag measuring some 34 cm by 28 cm, both of which are priced at SGD2620.

@mel_inmelbourne really likes these pieces and adds, ‘I love that cute new Boston bag as I’m a big vintage lover so this style really appeals to me! Besides, you can’t go wrong with the signature red/green stripes; it’s one that never goes out of style.’ The boys have got something to say as well, with @shiock adding, ‘It’s a classic design and style that won’t go wrong and can still be used 10, even 20 years later.’ @impossible_dandy chimes in as well, ‘The barrel-shaped bag is good for storing items and embodies a utilitarian look and feel.’

Last but by no means least, the iconic Sylvie bag rendered in GG Velvet makes a lovely addition to the label’s Pre-Fall 2018 lineup, one that @crosailo_be_me describes as ‘versatile and fitting for most occasions and locations’. She adds, ‘It’s classy and playful in its own way too!’ @imanadzmara also likes them, adding, ‘It’s a classic, modern look especially with the metal chain and web detail on the flap. Between the two, I like the brown velvet version better.’

The Sylvie GG Velvet Small Shoulder Bag (SGD3630) measures 25 cm by 16.5 cm and is one that comes with several key Gucci features like a signature red and green stripe, gold tone hardware and a webbed ribbon that doubles up as the bag’s handle. Small, yet big enough for all your essentials, including your iPhoneX in case you were wondering.
