Think of Van Cleef & Arpels and jewellery of the most intricate forms often come to mind. After all, the Maison, that was founded in 1906 in Paris, prides itself as a maker of high jewellery that is often incredibly intricate and superbly fine. They draw inspiration from nature with works of art featuring flora and fauna crafted from precious metals, before being adorned with the most precious of diamonds and gems.

Launched in 1968, the now-iconic Alhambra was then inspired by the four-leaf clover, and first made its debut as a long necklace adorned with 20 clover motifs in creased gold decorated with golden beads around the edges. Loved and worn by actresses and royalty alike, with Elizabeth Taylor and Grace Kelly (Princess of Monaco) amongst them, it has established itself not only as an icon of luck but also the house emblem of Van Cleef & Arpels.

Today, the Alhambra range of jewellery pieces comes in bold combinations of materials in different colours and shapes. Aside from long necklaces that feature gorgeous stones like malachite, mother-of-pearl and onyx set within the Alhambra motif, there are also chain bracelets, large pendants and even rings that are no less alluring.
