The first of many Métiers d’Art bags you’ll soon be seeing on this blog, this one is amongst the few novelty bags Chanel always releases with each collection. Why? Partly to satisfy the collectors, but more importantly, to prove that it still has a sense of humour. After all, which other French luxury brand do you know has released bags in the shape of everything from a rocket ship to a seashell and even a supermarket hamper? This one, from its upcoming #CHANELInHamburg collection, celebrates the birth city of Karl Lagerfeld, and most fittingly, will feature a clutch made out of resin in the shape of a shipping container, something that you’ll see lots of in the port city of Hamburg.

Available in a wide range of colours, they function almost exactly like a real shipping container too, with the clasp of the bag being at the door of the container, which needs to be unhinged before the entire clutch can be opened down the middle from the top. Fitted with its very own chain sling that will come in handy for those who want to carry it over the shoulder, you could also hide it completely within the bag. And because they are modelled after real containers, you can also stack them like Lego, which is pretty much what I did when I had the pleasure of visiting the press room some weeks back.

No word on its price (or its exact release date) as yet, so do stay tuned for more updates.
