Asics Tiger Gel-Lyte III Ranru Pack

No, your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you, this isn’t a pair of Adidas or Nike shoes (which is what I mostly wear these days when sneakers are concerned), but something new from Asics Tiger that will be launched worldwide sometime in mid-June. And why is it here, you ask? Well, for starters I’m a sucker for most anything denim, couple that with the fact that the technique used to piece the patchwork together is Japanese (again, who doesn’t love anything Japanese) and I’m 85% sold.

Paying homage to the traditional Japanese craft of boro that dates back to the 1800s rural Japan, craftsmen sew together scraps of leftover textile to form a distinct patchwork pattern that’s not only beautiful but extremely sturdy as well. And with the upcoming unisex Gel-Lyte III Ranru Pack, Asics does just that, with two pairs in different colours, one in Peacock and the other in Indigo Blue.

Finished with gum soles that set off the stitched denim beautifully (look closer and you’ll see the logo intertwined into the sneaker), they will be priced at SGD199 a pair and will be made available at STARTHREESIXTY and Limited Edt come 17 June 2017.
