Mansur Gavriel Satchel

If we believe that all good things must come to an end, then answer me this. Is it just me, or is Mansur Gavriel not as exciting as before, not as desirable as before and just not what you’re looking for in a bag anymore? I mean, when they first launched the Bucket Bag many seasons back, it was the hardest thing to come by and harder to spot in real life than a unicorn.

Those days are since over, since a) you can buy them easily via Mansur Gavriel online, b) you don’t see them as much anymore on Instagram accounts and c) the bag’s time has come and gone. And while Mansur Gavriel hasn’t been resting on their laurels and been furiously launching new bags (there was the Circle Bag, there was the Sun Bag, even newer ones from the Metropolitan to the Posternak), none of them went on to become as big as the Bucket Bag.

Still they keep trying (and as long as they do, I’ll keep blogging) with new bags, like the subject of today’s post, the Satchel, Mansur Gavriel’s take on the standard satchel that combines both leather and suede. With the top flap in calf leather over the suede body that’s lined with canvas, the most distinguishable feature has got to be its top handle. Equal parts gold-tone hardware and enamel, the 24 cm by 15  cm Satchel also comes with its own adjustable sling and is priced at USD745. Which makes it around SGD1050 after conversion.

Available in 5 different colours (Blu, Burgundy, Flamma, Orange and Rosa), here comes the million dollar question. Will this make you fall in love (and be obsessed) with Mansur Gavriel all over again, or is it truly the case that this good thing has come to an end?
