Céline Luggage: Icon Then, Icon Now, Icon Forever

The saying ‘old is gold’ could not be more appropriate when it comes to describing Céline’s famed Luggage. Yes, folks, she turns 8 this year, and one could say the bag that has withstood the test of time. Making its debut back in 2009, it instantly became the ‘it’ bag everyone coveted, propelling the French luxury house into one of the immediate go-tos one recalls when looking for new bags, SLGs and accessories.

Its distinct shape has remained the same though the years, along with that ‘Mona Lisa smile’ that has become its most iconic signature, the Luggage has seen many different interpretations as far as its ‘skin’ is concerned, from a large selection of leathers like grained calf and suede over the years, to sometimes in canvas, other times in more exotic leathers like lizard and python, there’s literally never been a dull moment as far as this icon is concerned.

All thanks to the fans (yes, you there with the Luggage bag), Céline continues to release this icon season after season in beautiful colours, and with the gorgeous selection for Spring Summer 2017 there’s got to be a colour, or two, that will suit you. Its most popular sizes – the Nano Luggage (20 cm by 20 cm by 10 cm) and the Micro Luggage (26 cm by 26 cm by 14 cm) both come in solid colours this season as well as the beautifully curated tricolour combinations, which you can see illustrated in the image above.

The bag’s function (as it was from day one) is simple. The Nano Luggage (SGD3350 for the solid colour, SGD3500 for the tricolour) is perfect for days where you don’t have to carry much. Just sling it over your shoulder or cross-bodied, and you’re good to go.

The larger Micro Luggage (SGD3900 for the solid colour and SGD4050 for the tricolour) on the other hand, is slightly bigger, which makes it the perfect size to tote, with most of your day’s essentials contained within. Both sizes are also quintessentially Luggage, complete with the front zippered detail (that ‘Mona Lisa smile’, remember?), gusseted sides and double top handles that we’ve all grown to know and love.

And if there’s one thing we know, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, so as long as Céline can keep offering its most iconic of bags in new colours and finishes season after season, this gem of a bag which is available now at Céline boutiques at Marina Bay Sands and Ngee Ann City will continue to stay relevant for a long time to come. An icon then, an icon now, an icon forever, indeed.
