Tom Ford Private Blend Sole di Positano

Different fragrances evoke different feelings and memories in different people, which is a natural given. And Tom Ford’s new Private Blend, the Sole di Positano, which ‘captures this dream-like beauty of the Italian coast’ has stirred within me so many different feelings and memories. A scent that reminds me of suntan-lotioned bodies basking in the hot sun mixed with cups of iced lime juice that I must have enjoyed as a child whilst on family picnics at East Coast Beach. Or might have imagined, since we hardly had the luxury of beach picnics whilst I was growing up.

Still, the Tom Ford’s new scent is a familiarly reassuring one, a green citrus floral fragrance with resplendent Italian bergamot, orange flowers and ylang ylang that’s finished with the soft musk and green moss, fresh yet warm all at once if you know what I mean. Suitable for either gender, the fragrances come encased in glass bottles that evoke the great green sea, which is pretty much what the colour of the ocean is in our part of the world.

Priced from SGD330 for a 50 ml bottle all the way to SGD850 for the 250 ml bottle (available now at TANGS Tangs Plaza or Robinsons City Hall), this eau de parfum will become my go-to scent this summer as I reminisce of a childhood spent frolicking by the sea. Or did I?
