Chanel: #TheGABRIELLEBag; Part 1

No stranger to this blog, Chanel’s new Gabrielle bag officially hits the boutique’s shelves this week, and because everyone here needs to be updated on the latest news, consider this your refresher post. At the very core of the collection is the Gabrielle Hobo, a contrast of hard and soft all at once. On the top, the bag is made up of quilted soft aged calfskin leather and as you move your hands towards its bottom, you’re met with a structured base that will stand upright even if you place it down on the table.

Named after Coco Gabrielle Chanel herself, Karl Lagerfeld was clearly inspired by its namesake and took from it many elements, from the bag’s almost boyish demeanour (Gabrielle had a love for menswear, incorporating it into her own day-to-day outfits and RTW for her then fledgling fashion house) to Chanel’s signatures like the quilting, and the chain link sling.

Available in 3 sizes (Small, Medium and Large), all sizes feature a top zipper that opens into a roomy interior, one that’s big enough to hold all your daily essentials and then some. Its ease-of-use is appealing, so are the many ways you can wear the Gabrielle Hobo, which is further aided by a really long chain link sling that allows you to wear it up to 7 different ways, from across the body to over the shoulder, even in a Y formation that allows you to wear the slings on both shoulders at once.

Measuring 20 cm by 15 cm for the Small (cute!), 28 cm by 21 cm for the Medium (the sensible one) and 31 cm by 25.5 cm for the Large (for the ones who need to carry everything including the kitchen sink), prices start from SGD4790 and go all the way to SGD5940 for the large ones. One thing to note, these price points also make the Gabrielle Hobo bags the most affordable bag offerings from Chanel today, especially when you consider that all of them come in full leather.

You can check them all out now at Chanel boutiques in Singapore, or head over to my Instagram account where we’ll be featuring Chanel’s bag-of-the-season all week in a series of images that will eventually form a huge collage by the end of the week. Enjoy!
