Step into Gucci’s spanking new store at ION Orchard and you’ll be slightly overwhelmed, especially with 6000 sq ft of Gooch goodness to explore. Also the first Gucci store in Singapore to follow the new codes of the Italian luxury house, its interiors are a mix of contemporary luxury and industrial eclecticism that uses idiosyncratic materials as imagined by Creative Director Alessandro Michele.
And after you’re done exploring dedicated sections for men and women consisting of everything from leather goods and shoes to accessories and even a rather full line-up of RTW, make a pitstop at Gucci DIY, another first for Singapore where you can ‘customise’ certain styles of bags (and shoes) to make it truly one-of-a-kind.
Choose from a pre-decided selection of bags and its accompanying patchwork pieces, which range from the now-iconic coral snakes that come in 3 colours to a vast array of creatures great and small, from bees and dragonflies to lizards and tigers. Then there are the flowers: peonies, roses, even a lotus, each more beautiful than the last. For plain models, you can opt for exotic skins like crocodile and python, to regular leather that comes in 18 different shades. You can choose the lining, you can decide if you want the interior personalised with your initials, even the shoulder straps come in special colour combinations that can only be found in Gucci DIY’s line-up.
You can also customise footwear, with one being able to add initials onto Ace sneakers, for example. Eventually, both RTW collections for both men and women will be opened up customisation but till that day comes, anyone needs a special Dionysus to call her own? Head on down to Gucci ION Orchard now.
