If you’ve been following this blog closely, you would know Coach celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, held an online auction where old vintage styles were refurbished and updated Stuart Vevers-style and even held a mini exhibition at Ngee Ann City’s ground level atrium last week. Phew.
Now for another update. Yes, the celebrations aren’t nearly over yet, and today’s post focuses on one of the 3 bags (and my personal favourite of the lot) that have been luxuriously updated for this special occasion. Yes, the Saddle that was first introduced in 1972 and relaunched on the runway of Coach’s Spring-Summer 2016 show is back, and besides being swathed completely in refined glovetanned leather that has a sheen to die for, also comes lined with soft leather within.
Then there’s the contrast stitching, which is always a good idea when it comes to the finish. There’s a bit of something-something, but without being too garish or in your face. Measuring just 23 cm by 20 cm by 8 cm (yes, this is the Saddle23), you’ll find it hard to resist the gorgeous colours it now comes in, from deep Bordeaux to season-appropriate hues like Flax (yellow), Dark Denim (self-explanatory) and that lovely deep dark Tan. Priced at SGD825, it’s as affordable as it gets, plus it’s timeless too. I mean, if it has been around for over 40 years, what’s going to stop it for being around for another 40 more?
