In an ongoing series from Chanel that has since explored everything from house icons to its most-loved colours and even the vocabulary according to Coco Chanel, today’s latest chapter, Chapter 16, takes a closer look at the one flower that’s most synonymous with the French luxury house: the Camellia.

Also known as the ‘rose of winter’, this animated short explains why Coco Chanel loved it so, how she adapted it for her own use and how it has become a permanent fixture in the House, a style essential which Karl Lagerfeld has included in every single collection since, from camellia brooches imagined in almost every material known to man to appearing as the muse in its fine jewellery collection. Fascinating, if you ask me, and something every self-respecting fan of Chanel should most definitely watch. Enjoy.
