There is probably nothing in this post you haven’t already seen online as far as the Fall-Winter 2016 Womens Gucci collection is concerned, but because the devil is always in the details as far as I’m concerned, here are some snapshots I took during Gucci’s F/W16 press presentation a couple of months back in Taipei.

First up, Gucci’s bag-of-the-season, the GG Marmont which also includes these sling shoulder bags. Available in a variety of finishes, from calfskin leather to velvet, its most distinctive features (there are two) include the vintage-looking GG clasp on the front along with the embroidered heart on the back. Then there’s the chevron quilting on both the front and the back that gives it that old-is-new-again look that’s not only very now, it’s also very Alessandro Michele as far as Gucci is concerned. Another bag that’s impossible to love is this Dionysus (SGD5040) that comes with its own embroidered patches made of everything from beads to coloured stones to rhinestones. Depicting different shapes and themes, each patch is made by expert craftsmen in India who sew each bead, stone and rhinestone onto fine organza fabric before they are attached to the GG Supreme canvas bag in Italy. In other words (or in this case, word), it’s art.

Ok, so I cheated a little with this one. Not exactly from the womens collection (I nicked this from the boys), this is another fine example of the amount of work that goes into each Gucci bag or SLG you see in stores today. Dozens of buttons are hand-embroidered onto a felt fabric base before the entire design (it’s a butterfly) is applied onto this clutch, complete with bee and floral motifs. And yes, I’m a sucker when it comes to detailing, so I’ll end this post with a capture of just two of the many rings for both men and women you’ll find in Gucci stores at Marina Bay Sands and Paragon. These, along with the RTW, SLGs and shoes, are all breathtakingly beautiful, instantly desirable and of course, wonderfully finished. What’s not to love, really.
