This just in. After Chanel’s Boy and Girl bags comes a 3rd new bag for the French luxury house, and one that, in my opinion, will have no problem becoming a permanent offering because it will probably do as well as the Boy.
Yes, boys and girls, meet the Drawstring, which is exactly as the name suggests: a drawstring bucket. Slated to be launched worldwide in June 2016 (end-May 2016 if we’re lucky), I’m loving how unisex it looks, with the robust shoulder strap and of course, that gorgeous chain detailing from which dangles Chanel’s CC logo.
There’s something else too. Look closely at the leather and you’ll realise how beautifully pristine it is. Touted as being ‘ultra-soft’, Chanel cuts leather from the most precious part of the skin to make these bags. And to let the leather truly shine, very little has been done to it, something which over time will allow the bags to develop the most natural of patinas.
Available in either calfskin or suede (shown above, in Khaki on the left and Brown on the right), no word yet on their sizes (I’m assuming there are two at least) or their prices, both of which will be mentioned in my upcoming post closer to the launch date.
Besides Khaki and Brown, there will be a third colour (and the most classic of them all), this one in Black, which is frankly stunning. Casual, relaxed and in a leather that will also age beautifully over time. Is this the bag we all have been waiting patiently for?
