Spring-Summer 2016 Womens Chanel #ChanelAirlines Collection

Consider this the first of many, many, many posts to come in relation to Chanel’s S/S16 collection that is also known as #ChanelAirlines for obvious reasons. For starters, the runway presentation which was held in Grand Palais featured an airport terminal (and one that can only be dreamt up by Karl Lagerfeld, no less). And because it’s an airport, the models were adorned with all manner of bags and accessories that one can say were travel-related, from cabin trolley bags and backpacks to oversized Classic Flap bags (and by oversized, I mean they measure almost 50 cm across). Then there are the accessories which include everything from caps and plane-shaped brooch pins to sandals that light up, because on a long-haul flight when the cabin is dark, you still need to see where you’re going, right?

And while it’s still too soon to reveal everything the collection will offer, between now and the exciting #ChanelXPedderonScotts pop-up that’s happening on 24 March which will feature most everything from the runway, I do think it’s ok to share with you all some details regarding certain pieces, if only so that you will be able to plan in advance and really decide what to save your dollars for.

First up, let’s have a look at the campaign image at the top of this post. See the trolley bag? That’s the printed toile grain calfskin-trimmed 55 cm by 37 cm cabin trolley that’s set to retail for SGD7180. The bag on top of it? Well, that’s a backpack (also known as the one I really, really want) that’s made out of mesh and nylon with a huge circular hangtag that’s priced at SGD3750. The model on the left is carrying a sling that’s very Pan Am-esque, a toile and rubber bundle of joy with the asking price of SGD2650. The sunnies (called the Shield, by the way) are SGD720 while the cap is SGD1020.

Moving on, we’ve got another Pan Am-esque WOC in lambskin with a trio of silver CCs (SGD2380) and a pair of swoon-worthy metallic silver calfskin wallets (something which I’ve not seen in a long, long time) that are priced at the SGD960 and SGD1420 respectively.

Many would be keen on this, the caps that come in either cotton or jacquard tweed. Available in at least 4 different colours/styles, you’ll be pleased to know that the caps are adjustable at the back and will be suitable for both women and men. How much, you ask? SGD1040 each.

More pretty things to love coming up, including mirrored cuffs (SGD2460) which come etched with a CC logo on the other side. Then there are those airplane brooches that come with my name all over it. Starting from SGD670, they come in at least 2 sizes in a variety of colours/designs and are made of metal and resin. And if you’re wondering what the two metal sticks are at the right of the image, they are hair clips that cost SGD1150 each.

And that’s it for now, folks. Do stay tuned in the days (and weeks) to come where more of the collection, along with my special collaboration with Chanel, will be unveiled here on the blog and on Instagram (@bagaholicboy), leading up to the opening of Chanel’s pop-up exhibition/store at Pedder on Scotts. Excited? I know I am.
