It’s a known fact, you walk into any Hermès, ask about the price of any leather wallet and your eyes will instantly water. Famed for their cost (and of course, their design, colour and the types of leather used), I guess one has to be really creative when it comes to looking for more ‘affordable’ alternatives within Hermès, and by creative I mean taking a look into what they have to offer in terms of agenda covers and cases.
Take the Hermès soie-Cool Agenda Cover GM, for instance. Measuring 14 cm by 11.5 cm, it’s a beautiful (and most underrated) piece, part-Epsom calfskin and part-printed silk that comes complete with an all-around zip. On the inside, you’ll find more Epsom calfskin, with 2 card slots and a slightly larger patch pocket (where you can stash the folded bills). Sure, it isn’t the most complete of wallets, and it won’t be able to hold all 14 of your credit cards, but for days when you don’t really need much, this would be perfect.
In other words, less is more, and with a price like GBP630 (or around SGD1320 after conversion), I won’t complain either. And if you do get bored, you can always use it as an agenda cover (Hermès refills sold separately) as the French luxury house intended.
