Very few things stop me dead in my tracks these days when I’m out and about. It could only be a shelf stocked full of Hello Kitty merchandise, a really huge SALE sign or a new bag sitting in the window. Which frankly of the 3 points mentioned above, the last one is probably the one that rarely even happens these days, given how I’m supposed to already be in the know and have seen it all.
But it did.
There it was, sitting in the mens-only Fendi store at Landmark HK, calling out to me in all its splendour, its olive green leather skin adorned with the one thing that got my heartbeat even quicker, a camouflaged-patterned leather strap which made it the most perfect of combinations I’ve seen in a long, long while.
Sporting a top handle that’s reminiscent of the women’s By The Way bag, the Lui (which means ‘he’ or ‘him’ in Italian) also comes with oversized zips on the front and extra-long ‘ears’ at the side which allow you to open the bag bigger and wider. It also comes with an extra top handle at the back, which I suppose is useful if you want to carry the bag another way.
The perfect city bag for the man-on-the-go, it comes in that not-too-big but not-too-small size (like Loewe’s Puzzle, for example, but that’s a post for another day) that I’m favouring a lot these days, just enough to carry your daily essentials without looking like one is about to run away from home.

Available now at Fendi boutiques in Singapore as well, the Lui retails for SGD4680, which I suppose is a decent price for something that’s almost 100% calfskin leather (there’s another variation in Selleria leather as well which is quite love too). As far the camouflage-print leather strap I mentioned earlier goes, it’s part of the Strap You collection and has to be bought separately, priced at SGD740 and SGD1140 respectively for the ones in calfskin and calf/python on one side.
Last I checked, the camouflage-print leather strap is not yet available in SG, but don’t let that stop you from heading down now and admiring the Lui in all his glory. As far as I’m concerned, this is one bag for the guys that’s ranking super high on my S/S16 must-have list right now. What say you?

Sigh. Seeing this all too late and I can’t find this anywhere anymore. Any idea where I can look for possible remaining stock?
Hmm, did you check with your local Fendi boutiques yet? They might be able to bring it in from an overseas store which might still stock it?
Your blog is incredibly helpful!
Dear God, that is beautiful.
It is! But you need to see it in person to truly fall in love…
Hello! Thank you for your post on Fendi S/S16 Lui. I purchased this bag at a TJ Maxx a few months back and have been searching for information on this beauty.
I work as a stylist and have just started up a website. I’m struggling to find detailed information on this bag price availability sizes etc. I’d be grateful if you could direct me as I have been researching for months and your article is the first clue I have found.
What information do you need? Or have a look here?

A male version of DotCom bag…
When a bag has your last name on it, it’s a sign. LOL!
It’s something you’d have to look twice before starting to consider liking it, but I actually finally get to see something made specifically for men that can replace my old and torn Givenchy Pandora! The price on the other hand is a bit on the higher side though, not something I’d spit in a heart-beat.
If you can see yourself using this bag for a couple of years (or more), then the price is more than worth it, especially with a design as timeless as this.
I saw it and its love love love love love!!!
My love for this bag is unbelievable in fact I adore all my Fendis and can not wait to add this to my collection.
