Yes, it’s true. Bao Bao Issey Miyake has opened her first standalone store in Singapore, and it’s located on the 3rd level of ION Orchard, which has seen many new introductions/reopenings of late. But what does this exactly mean for the rest of us?
Well, for starters, no more wandering the streets streets of Tokyo like I did the last time, looking for the ever-elusive BBIM bags that were allocated so sparingly to each retail outpost, it took me almost 3 days of constant rejection before I finally found some at their store in Aoyama. Sure, prices will be a tad higher, but I would much rather be spending my time while on holiday eating to my hearts’ content than shopping for the one bag I can’t find, which makes hitting their new store at ION Orchard perfect sense if you think about it.
Loved by many for being lightweight and functional, the BBIM really needs no introduction, but for those still not in the know, think bags composed of tiny brightly-coloured plastic triangles. From totes of many sizes to fold-over clutches to messengers with long slings, the boys aren’t left out either. This store at ION Orchard will also stock the BBIM Sports Line, which in essence are backpacks, messengers and even SLGS composed of smaller plastic triangles in both glossy and matte finishes.
And for those into limited edition exclusives, you’ll be pleased to know that BBIM ION Orchard will offer the AT Random Lucent Tote and Flap that come with triangles in 6 different colours priced at SGD660 and SGD460 respectively. #happyshopping
